The human eye consists of several different types of organs that perform different functions. Within each of the human eye is a pair of organs or glasses to correct problems with farsightedness or nearsightedness. Behind the cornea there are strong, which is the thin layer of tissue that provides the covering for the pupil, and an iris, which is the colored part of the eye that makes it visible. With the exception of the retina, all the other organs are contained within the eyelid.
In order for an organism to have eyes it must have an eyelid gland, which is present at birth. The eye has no other organ present in its body, although the eyelids may become floppy or lost over time if the eyelids drop off due to tears, which sometimes happen during sleep. The majority of animals, including humans, have eyelids that remain closed throughout their lifetime. Many insects such as bees and termites do not have eyelids, and the reason for this is that they do not use them for vision. One of the most important parts of the eye is the retina, also referred to as the macula, which is in the back part of the eye. This is surrounded by two additional rings of cells known as the choroid. The retina is responsible for receiving information from the eyeball, which it then sends to the rest of the body through the iris. The choroid contains the blood supply to the retina and to the muscles that control eye movement. A major function of the retina is to provide a constant source of visual input to the rest of the body. Another major function of the eye is to sense light, and this is achieved through the central nervous system. Located in the back part of the head, the central nervous system controls the major functions of the body. One of its primary functions is to control the movement of the eye, which is achieved through the optic nerve. When the nerve becomes damaged, the person will have problems with their vision, and this is where ophthalmologists come in. The major functions of the eyes are divided into two main categories, and these are the accommodation and the vision systems. The accommodation system refers to the way that objects are viewed on the retina, and this is measured through a numerical value known as the static contrast ratio. This ratio determines how well an object will be seen at different distances, and it is primarily used as a screening tool for optical printers, computer screens, and television monitors. The other system is the vision system, which refers to the way that the human eye can recognize colors and other objects. In order to perform its various functions, the human eye must have good accommodation and clear vision, which are determined by the shape of the lens. The most common type of lens for this purpose is the flat lens, and these are usually called PRK lenses. Other types of lenses include the topic, regular, and the round. Among these different types of lenses, those that feature a high index of refraction are considered the best for distance vision, while those that have a high convex focus are recommended for reading and distance applications.
